Why I'm doing this

OK, I have been really excited about being able to contribute to our family's finances by couponing. I am motivated to continually improve processes and thrive when I have metrics showing me whether I am making an impact or not. This couponing thing is right up my alley.

I've been praying for God to help me to multiply my talents while I am working from home, and raising the kids. This has been a (surprise) FUN activity for me. I get so pumped when i see those receipts and get to show them to Chad when he comes home.

So here's what I've been doing this week:
Checking my favorite budget blogs each day - www.moneysavingmom.com, www.frugal4abusylife.com, www.survivingthestores.com, and ChaChing on a shoestring.

Went Grocery shopping at Kroger and took a picture of what I got - about $100 worth of groceries for $33. With God's help, I saved 68% on that one.

Went grocery shopping at Walmart and spent $25 on 4 Sunday Papers ($4), 3 gallons of distilled water ($2.50), and 14 cans of fat-free refried beans (price matched at $1 ea.).

Corinne and I went to Babies R Us to use a $7 off coupon - but found out when we got to the store that I read the coupon wrong. I was all excited because we use Pampers Sensitive wipes, and we had just purchased them for $2/pack. With the coupon I had, I was able to get 12 packs for $1.67/ea. I was really bummed because I thought I was going to be able to get them for $1 each - but was out of luck.

ahh well. Corinne and I are having fun hunting for deals. God is multiplying our efforts. I give Him all of the praise for giving us wisdom as to where to go and what to do.

Last night, we went to went to my 24 hour CVS to get in on this deal and they didn’t have any metal hooks at that location. So, I used the $1.50/1 coupon and the $1/1 coupon for some plastic hooks and strips. They didn’t ring up as 2 for $5, but the assistant manager overrode the prices and gave them to me for the 2 for $5 price because they were put in the 2 for $5 area. I ended up doing 2 transactions, and paid a total of $5 (includes 2 $5 extra cvs bucks).

Considering they were regularly priced at $6.99-9.49 each, I was pretty stoked.

Let me know if you are signed up for the challenge too, and we can encourage eachother!

Today or tomorrow, I am planning on cashing in on the Wal-Mart deals that are out there, and maybe the Target deals.

Learning to lean on Jesus,
Marie
